Garland & Gould are in the House!

Hi Everyone!! L.J. Garland & Debbie Gould here! We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, so we thought it only appropriate to talk about, well, Valentine’s Day. Uhhhh, not so fast. While we agree it’s a day basically meant to spoil women…well, I mean, your man is out there spending a two-week paycheck on flowers and chocolates and a fancy dinner, and we don’t believe it’s fair. Like when is their day? No, no, no. Sundays watching football doesn’t count. So, we thought we should give all the ladies out there some pointers on what you can do for your man to equally show your love and appreciation on this day for lovers. And sorry L.J., this is a PG post.

1. Let him have the remote for an entire day—and again, no, Football Sundays don’t count. Give him a voucher that lets him know you love him enough to let him have that control for an entire day without even so much as a huff or a puff.

2. Give him a nag-free day. I know, I know, but one day isn’t going to kill us. Overlook all the little hairs in the sink from him shaving that morning. Hey, at least he’s shaving. Ignore the ball scratching and adjusting, the clothes strewn around the house, and the dirty dishes that can’t seem to make it to the sink much less the dishwasher. The passing of gas under the covers and trapping you in. You know, the burping loud enough for the neighbors to hear. The fact that, even though they can hit the bulls-eye from a hundred yards with their compound bow, they can’t manage to pee in the toilet...okay well, you all get the message. No nagging for one day.

3. Give him a foot rub. We all know the absolute calming effects and benefits of an awesome foot rub. But how often do we return the favor??? Hmmm?? Just make him wash his feet first. Oh, and have him trim his toenails, too—and, yeah, no complaining about the bits that land on the carpet. And when he says, “Honey, what’s my Shop-Vac doing in the living room?” Just smile and tell him, “It’s my special plan to make you feel soooo good, big boy.” (Hey, it’s to vacuum up the gnarly toenail bits… What were you thinking?)

4. Along the lines of the foot rub, how about a total body massage? Again, we ladies indulge in a nice massage every now and then, but has your man ever had the intense pleasure of a deep-tissue workout? Slap some oil on him and go to town. You might even throw in a happy ending…but, hey, that’s totally up to you.

5. Wash his truck. He may not appreciate a bouquet of flowers, but I bet he’d like all that mud washed off his precious baby. Make that baby shine, girls!

6. That happy ending we spoke of in #4? Just do it. It’s one day to show your appreciation and love. Suck it up, buttercup.

Okay, that last one had us dying with laughter. The more we write this, the more it seems to be aimed more for the married-twenty-years ladies out there. You young guns, just save this somewhere. Trust me.

And now, you single ladies out there watching all these flowers, chocolates, and diamond pics being flaunted all over facebook and TV. I mean, seriously, between December and mid-February, all you see on TV are weight-loss ads and hearing some chick yammer that a kiss begins with K. Do yourselves a favor. Shut off the TV, lock your smart phone in the gun safe, and do the following:

1. Consider yourself lucky that you don’t have to do any of the above.

2. This day is about love. Love yourself and treat yourself. Go get that massage or pedicure…or both. Go to that restaurant you’ve always wanted to try and order your favorite dinner...TO GO! Go to the bakery and get that cupcake or eclair you’ve been craving and bring it all home—carbs, fat, and sugar be damned. This is a day to spoil yourself. Now, get the living room set up. The remote on your right. Your dinner and bottle of wine on the left and Magic Mike in the DVD player. Indulge—again, it’s one night. After dinner and multiple viewings of that Magic Mike, end the night right. Grab your comforter and your Kindle, go to Amazon, and buy one of our books. Curl up on the couch and have a good read. And again, consider yourself lucky you can pick up that remote at any time and watch whatever you want. We’re just saying….

Bottom line...to our readers, we do appreciate every one of you and hope that Valentine’s Day and every day are blessed with love and laughter.
